Almaviva and FS Group together for digital mobility, with the Sagitta consortium

The goal is promoting distinctive and advanced made-in-Italy solutions on an international scale and in strategic sectors for Italy's economy

Rome, 15 January 2025

Sagitta stems from the desire of promoting distinctive digital solutions in the transport and logistics sector on an international level, and national initiatives to accelerate the implementation of digital infrastructures supporting strategic sectors for the Country.

Comprising the Italian digital innovation group Almaviva and the FS Group - a national and international multimodal mobility player - the consortium follows up on the agreement signed a year ago between the two companies.

Sagitta's aim is to establish digital solutions for future mobility, such as Traffic Planning & Management, Transport Planning & Management, Digital Twin & State Health Monitoring Infrastructure, Multimodal Integrated Mobility (including Mobility As a Service - MaaS), Ticketing, and Infomobility services, in global markets of joint interest, such as Europe, North America, Latin America, the Middle East, North Africa and India.

In Italy, the Consortium will foster projects at a national level to support strategic sectors for Italy's development, aimed at the realisation and management of digital platforms of national importance to promote sustainable mobility, tourism, the monitoring of transport infrastructures, and intermodal logistics.

'The FS Group manages a complex and articulated physical and digital infrastructure. Combining these two aspects and ensuring their coordination is becoming an increasingly challenging objective for us - explains Massimiliano Garri, Chief Technology, Innovation & Digital Officer of the FS Group - And with the creation of the Sagitta Consortium, in partnership with a leading partner in the Information & Communication Technology sector such as Almaviva, we have the chance to actually reunite these two aspects, by focusing on the activation of digital platforms to concretely improve the movement of people and goods, with a view to an increasingly integrated and sustainable mobility.’

‘Aware of the value of made-in-Italy technology and its global competitiveness, we are proud to embark on this new challenge, shared with an international sustainable mobility champion, such as the FS Group. In this way, we are strengthening a ten-year collaboration that, with the establishment of the Sagitta Consortium, takes on a new shape to face a global market full of opportunities, where we can offer unique, evolved and distinctive solutions, such as those provided by our Moova platform, already active on foreign markets in technologically advanced contexts - said Marco Tripi, Almaviva's CEO - Sagitta’s goal is exporting the outstanding Italian offer, in line with European interoperability evolutions.’

Sagitta will enable FS to consolidate its role as the standard-exporter of Italian excellence abroad in the transport sector, and to accelerate the development of digital platforms that can promote more efficient, effective and sustainable modes of transport for people and goods to the benefit of the community.

Through the Consortium, which enhances the consolidated collaboration with the FS Group, Almaviva aims to accelerate its internationalisation objective by exporting advanced and distinctive Italian technology, such as the Moova platform for integrated mobility, to promote sustainable modes of transport, tourism, infrastructure monitoring (railways and roads), intermodal logistics and more functional services for travellers.

Francesco De Leo, Chief Global Strategy & International Officer of the FS Group, was appointed Chairman of the Consortium, and Smeraldo Fiorentini, Deputy CEO of Almaviva's Transportation & Logistics Division, as Managing Director.
