Born in Rome on 23 November 1961, Tommaso Tanzilli has been Chairman of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane since June 2024, having served as a member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Governance, Nomination and Remuneration Committee during the previous board term of office.

Graduating with a thesis on labour law, he has since taught socio-economic and labour law subjects at leading universities and higher education institutions.

He has been involved in trade associations and tourism since the beginning of his career. He served as Deputy Director of Federalberghi Roma from 1996 to 2003, and then as Director until 2022. From 2005 to 2024, he was also Managing Director of the service company Promoroma Hotel Service.

He was Director General of Federalberghi Lazio until 2024; he stepped into the role after having been Deputy General Manager from 2003 to 2006.

He has participated in different capacities in various organisations, companies and bodies, including the Rome Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Crafts and Agriculture (board member from 2010 t0 2015) and the Global Tourism Industry Expo company (which he chaired from 2013 to 2019).

He is President of the Ente Bilaterale del Turismo del Lazio.
