Born in Recanati in 1963, Roberto Massi completed his high school studies at the Nunziatella Military School in Naples before embarking on a military career, attending the 164th course at the Military Academy in Modena.
Appointed Second Lieutenant in 1984, Roberto served as an Officer in the Carabinieri Corps until 2016, gaining experience both in operational/command assignments (including as Attaché to the Carabinieri Anti-Crime Division in Milan, Commander of the Porta Monforte Companies of Casoria and Milan, Commander of the ROS Anti-Terrorism Division, Deputy Commander of the Carabinieri Division for Security of the Head of State, Commander of the Operative Division of Rome and Provincial Commander of Turin) as well as in directional/staff positions (including as Attaché to the Operations Office, Head of the Studies and Projects Divisions, Head of the Officers’ Personnel Office and Head of the Legislation Office) and even reaching the rank of Brigadier General.
Between 2009 and 2011, Roberto served as Director General of the General Affairs and Resources Office at the Ministry of Economic Development.
From 2016, Roberto worked for Anas, where he set up and assumed responsibility for the Corporate Protection Department, with responsibilities for Security, Risk Management, Compliance, Anti-Corruption and Anti-Mafia. At Anas, he also covered the roles of Chief Risk Officer and Head of Corruption Prevention and Transparency.
A graduate in Law and in Internal and External Security Sciences, Roberto completed a Specialisation Course in International Strategic-Military Studies and a Master’s Degree in Strategic Sciences, as well as having successfully completed the Superior Course of the Interforce General Staff.
Over the years, Roberto has bolstered his education with various specialisation courses, including Management Training at ISVOR-FIAT and Science and Techniques of Legislation at ISLE. He also earnt Diplomas in Risk Management for Control Functions, Control and Internal Auditing and Internal Auditor on Anti-corruption Management Systems UNI-ISO 37001:2016, as well as a Specialisation Course in Enterprise Risk Management at the LUISS Business School.
From October 2022 to 2 September 2024, he was Chief Security&Risk of the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane and now he holds the position of Chief Risk Officer of the FS Group.
