More sustainable and comfortable mobility is at the heart of FS Italiane Group's commitment to re-launch commuter rail transport in the name of innovation. A real revolution is now coming: in 2019 the new Rock and Pop trains will be added to the Vivalto, Jazz, and Swing which, together with the Minuetto, transport millions of Italians every day to school, work and on leisure trips.
The novelties are immediately perceived on board the Rock and Pop trains. Thanks to high safety standards and technical reliability, these trains offer a new travel experience, also enriched thanks to multimedia support designed for passengers.
The new regional train fleets - Rock produced by Hitachi Rail Italy and Pop produced by Alstom - make up the total supply of about 500 new trains. The contract, worth over € 4.3 billion in its economic value and number of trains, is unprecedented in Italy. By 2021, these trains will replace 70% of the regional fleet and will guarantee commuters more comfortable trips, in line with their mobility needs. The regional rail transport revolution was further confirmed by the tender for 135 new diesel-electric trains.
