Since September 2024, he has been Chief Human Resources Officer for Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane.

From 2020 to 2024, he worked for Autostrade per l'Italia as Human Capital and Organisation Director, being responsible for the entire HR function, and reporting directly to the CEO, and as Secretary for the company's Human Resources Committee.

From 2021 to 2024, he was a board member for the following companies belonging to the Autostrade Group: Free To X S.r.l., EssediEsse S.p.A, Tecne S.p.A, and from 2023 to 2024 also for the company Tangenziale di Napoli S.p.A..

Previously, from 2016 to 2020, he was Human Resources & Organisation Director for Leonardo - Helicopter Division (from 2017 to 2020) and for Leonardo - Aircraft Division (from 2016 to 2017), being responsible for the management and development of Human Resources, and the development of the organisational model within the company.

From 2011 to 2015, he worked at Alenia Aermacchi S.p.A., first as Head of HR Management and then as Human Resources & Organisation Director in 2015.

From 2006 to 2011, he worked at Alenia Aeronautica S.p.A., as Industrial & Trade Union Relationships Manager and then HR Management Coordinator for Operation Areas.[US1]

From 2004 to 2006, Gian Luca Orefice was Head of Human Resources and Organisation at Acea and from 1997 to 2004 he was Industrial & Trade Union Relationships Manager at Deutsche Bank.

He is currently a member of the steering cabin and committee with MIM for Distretto Italia.

Gian Luca Orefice graduated in Law from the University of Naples Federico II.
