Rome, 19 February 2018

As part of the cooperation agreement signed today by Ivan Scalfarotto, Undersecretary for Economic Development for the Italian government, and Arben Ahmetaj, Minister of Finance and the Economy for the Albanian government, the FS Italiane Group has expressed its willingness to support the Albanian government in the development of rail and road infrastructures in the country.

The FS Italiane Group will also take part in the tender for infrastructural and technical development of the Tirana – Durazzo railway line, 50% financed with funds from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and 50% by an EU grant, amounting to 80 million Euros in total.

Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane (FS Italiane, the Italian State Railways Group) is included in the Italian delegation for trade mission taking place today and tomorrow in Tirana, sponsored by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Ministry for Economic Development.

In 2016, the FS Italiane Group’s engineering company, Italferr, carried out a feasibility study for the construction of a multimodal station in Tirana.
