Trenitalia delivers three additional commuter trains to Trenord

These add to the eight already circulating on the Lombard railway lines

Milan, 22 December 2018

Trenitalia (Group FS Italiane) delivered three additional trains to Trenord for regional and metropolitan transport in Lombardy.

There was one Vivalto, one High Frequency Train and an ALe 582 to be added to the eight already delivered between September and today. Ultimately, there will be 11 functioning trains offered by Trenitalia in order to facilitate the relaunch of regional rail transport.

In just under four months - ahead of the schedule agreed upon on 31 August 2018 with Gianfranco Battisti, Managing Director of FS Italiane Group, and Attilio Fontana, President of the Lombardy Region - Trenitalia has produced some of the most reliable trains with maximum transport capacity available to Trenord.

Together with the trains, twenty Trenitalia personnel, including railroad engineers and crew, have already been put into operation for Trenord, guaranteeing 22 daily services and raising the regularity standards of Lombard railway traffic.

Fully aware of Lombardy’s delicate transport situation, Trenitalia has put maximum effort in ensuring Trenord trains are able to help improve commuter travel conditions. This determination will continue in the coming months, confirming the commitment of the FS Italiane Group to fortify commuter transport throughout all Italian regions, for the benefit of those travelling by train for work, study, leisure and tourism. The main objective is to improve the quality of travel and the lives of millions of people who use the Trenitalia and Trenord trains each day.
