The Italian State Railways engineering firm Italferr, as part of a consortium of leading companies in the sector, has been awarded a contract for “Project Management Consultancy Services” and technical assistance in the construction of the tram network in the city of Lusail, 15 kilometres from Qatar’s Capital, Doha.
The contract signed with Qatar Railways has a total value of approximately 96 million euros and a term of 51 months.
It involves completion of the civil works, creation of technology and plant systems, development of maintenance facilities and supply of rolling stock for use on the four planned lines, totalling 38 km of which 10 are in tunnels, and 37 stations.
The award of this contract consolidates Italferr’s presence in Qatar and its relationship with the client, Qatar Railways, with whom the firm is collaborating on the detailed planning of Doha’s Red metropolitan line, set to link New Doha International Airport, in the West Bay Area, to the Capital.
