Italian Jazz for L'Aquila, Fresu: “Music will help reconstruction”

Rome 5 September 2015

Gruppo FS Italiane will take part in the event entitled “Jazz italiano per L'Aquila” (Italian Jazz for L’Aquila) on 6 September through Trenitalia trains and Busitalia coaches to transfer musicians between Rome Termini Station and the “Casa del Jazz” (Jazz House) in L’Aquila to illustrate that rail and road travel is the best solution for improving collective transportation.

“Jazz italiano per L’Aquila is the biggest jazz event ever organised in Italy involving over 600 musicians from throughout Italy and 100 jazz concerts,” stated trumpet-player Paolo Fresu with regard to tomorrow’s event.

“This great mobilisation,” continued the jazz-player who arrived in the city on a Busitalia coach, “Not only aims to make people aware of how long reconstruction takes, but also to mend the social and architectural fabric of this city and illustrate the vital and creative heart of Italian jazz.”

In 2009, Gruppo FS Italiane began helping the people affected by the earthquake. Today Trenitalia and Busitalia, official carriers for this event, continue to support the civil, social and cultural reconstruction of the main city in Abruzzo.
