New international trains will be used for the opening of the San Gottardo Gallery in December 2016, development of north-south railway services, freight schedules, improvement of access to Italy and the future of the FMV Mendrisio -Stabio - Arcisate - Varese line, these were discussed at a meeting between Gruppo FS Italiane CEO Michele Mario Elia and FFS CEO Andreas Meyer at Expo Milano 2015.
A meeting between management from Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane and Ferrovie Federali Svizzere (FFS) took place at Expo 2015 in Milan today as part of the “Castle Agreement”.
This 2011 Agreement was the start of regular and more intense cooperation between the two rail groups, which a fully-operational for Expo and ready for upcoming opening of the San Gottardo Gallery.
The objectives to fulfil through improvement and upgrading of railway infrastructures between the two bordering countries to continue until 2020 above all entail international and regional TILO offers.
