FS Security fewer assaults on FS Group staff in the last year

47% less even in the first month of 2025 than in the same period of 2024

Rome, 14 February 2025

In 2024, assaults on railway staff decreased by 11% compared to the previous year, with complaints dropping from 427 in 2023 to 381 in 2024. Positive results were also reported for the first month of 2025, with a 47% decrease compared to the same period last year. These figures come from FS Security’s latest reports - a company part of the FS Italiane Group dedicated to ensuring increasingly high levels of protection in all railway areas, for both passengers and employees, working in close coordination with the police.

Its ongoing commitment is achieved through integrated prevention strategies, innovative technologies and a partnership-oriented approach with local communities.

Some of the measures taken that have contributed to this improvement include: increased surveillance in the main stations and railway areas, and stronger team presence; ongoing training courses for FS staff, and awareness-raising campaigns for travellers, to promote responsible behaviour and respect for railway staff.

'Even though the drop in assaults is a positive sign that confirms the effectiveness of the initiatives put in place, we cannot let our guard down. The safety of our personnel is and will continue to be a top priority for the FS Group’ - stated Pietro Foroni, Chief Executive Officer of FS Security.

Looking to the future, FS Security is already working on new technological video surveillance solutions, also by resorting to AI, to provide alerts when critical security situations occur. In addition, the company aims to increase its staff, to ensure a more widespread presence in the territory and, shortly thereafter, experimentation with bodycam worn by our staff, in certain areas.
