Milan Central Station is the second most important station in Italy in terms of size and traffic, receiving around 600 trains a daytwo underground lines, the nearby “Milan Passante Railway” [an underground railway passing through Milan], the terminuses for various city bus and tram lines and airport shuttles and over 320,000 people every day, amounting to 120 million a year.

The Station is located in Piazza Duca d'Aosta, between Piazza Luigi di Savoia and Piazza IV Novembre, right in the city centre.

The Station was inaugurated in 1931 to replace the former central station located in Piazza della Repubblica, which had become insufficient further to increased rail traffic.
