Completion of the Pescara-Bari track-doubling

Completion of the Pescara-Bari track-doubling

The project envisages the doubling of the Termoli-Lesina section, which completes the doubling programme of the Adriatic route in the Pescara-Bari section.

The project envisages the construction of a track-doubling with a total length of about 33 kilometres, divided into two functional Lots. The first Lot is the Ripalta-Lesina track at a length of about 8 kilometres alongside the existing track, and the Termoli-Ripalta track with a length of about 25 kilometres, part of which is a variant and part of which flanks the existing track.

The project has received partial public funding, including NRRP funds.

Roberto Pagone was appointed Extraordinary Governmental Commissioner for completion of the works.

Advantages

  • Increased line capacity – from 4 trains per hour in both directions to 10 trains per hour on the doubled sections.
  • Increased regularity of railway operations.
