Trenitalia Friuli Venezia Giulia: a positive summer for train tourism

Over 200,000 passengers on the Alpe Adria Line between June and September

Trieste, 08 October 2021

The summer services designed by Trenitalia to support tourism in Friuli Venezia Giulia were greatly appreciated.

Over 200,000 passengers chose the Alpe Adria Line trains to reach tourist destinations throughout the Region, from the UNESCO sites of Aquileia, Palmanova and Cividale to medieval villages such as Venzone, considered one of the most beautiful in Italy.

The 26,500 bikes transported along the Alpe Adria Line and Trenobici delle Lagune saw an increase of 30% compared to the same June–September period of last year.

The new train+bus Lignano Link, which allows passengers to reach the renowned yet trainless seaside resort of Lignano Sabbiadoro from Latisana, was greatly appreciated. 2,500 passengers have used the service since its activation.

There are signs of recovery also for Crossmoby, the cross-border service from Udine/Trieste to Ljubljana.

More families are choosing the train to visit regional beauties. Amongst Trenitalia’s offerings for this summer, the Junior Promo has been particularly welcomed, allowing one child up to 15 years of age to travel free when accompanied by a paying adult. In FVG, 25,000 have used it – about double the amount of last year.
