Innovate: more than 450 ideas from employees to develop sustainable mobility

Rome, 24 January 2020

Over 450 innovative ideas focused on sustainability in mobility, safety, energy and emissions.

These came from FS Italiane Group employee proposals in the second edition of Innovate, the initiative created to promote entrepreneurship.

“In the proposals of the participating teams, I have perceived a great deal of energy,” said Gianfranco Battisti, Chief Executive Officer and General Director of the FS Italiane Group. “The ideas are very interesting, given that all of the work groups have understood just how important sustainability and innovation, as the priority of the 2019-2023 Industrial Plan, are for the Group. Innovate is a stimulating workshop of ideas and an exciting engagement. It is a fantastic way to promote innovative industrial processes within the company. We truly believe in technological development, especially in relation to interpersonal rapports. The digitalisation of the value chain, being the ability to alert passengers through new individual communication tools, is a fundamental aspect for us.”

During the Innovate 2020 Boot Camp, comprised of two days of meetings (22 and 23 January 2020) held at the Officine Farneto, the 10 ideas to receive the most votes from over 6,000 employees were developed by the teams, liaising with various realities of the external business world, including startups and innovative companies. A technical jury selected five proposals that will be transformed into valuable projects for the FS Group.

The five teams will now have to develop projects in agile mode, together with the mentors, evaluating the technical and economic feasibility also through the use of demonstrators and the concept of Minimum Viable Product (MVP).
