It ensures the planning, implementation and control of current maintenance and cleaning based on business and production programmes. It takes care of the rescheduling of activities by providing the systems involved with instructions in terms of the revision and allocation of production capacities/cross-sectoral optimisations to ensure compliance with set targets. It evaluates the cost/benefit opportunities of outsourcing/internalising specific processes. It ensures the management of maintenance and cleaning service contracts for rolling stock and plant, also by checking and certifying the performance and application of the relevant contractual rules. It takes care of the reporting and monitoring of activities by providing support for any corrective actions.

It deals with the maintenance of railway equipment, buildings and works of art as well as the design and management of civil and infrastructure works.

It ensures the routine maintenance of technological systems and deals with the efficiency of plant processes, contributing to the optimisation of rolling stock lifecycle. It determines the need for spare parts and consumables for the workshop's maintenance activities. It oversees the design and management of upgrading and renovation works.
