To address the GRI's guidelines on G4 principles of sustainability, the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane Group has started a materiality analysis that summarizes the company's point of view with that of the stakeholders. This analysis makes it possible to identify the "material" aspects, i.e. those that could generate significant economic, social, and/or environmental impacts on the Group and are perceived as of greatest interest for stakeholders in as they affect their expectations and decisions.
With the aim of developing a broader and more systematic stakeholder engagement process, the Group has decided to gather the external and internal feedback on the materiality of sustainability issues for the Group. The final result is represented by the materiality matrix: the upper right corner shows the most significant aspects covered by Sustainability Report.
In 2018, the process to define FS Italiane Group’s long-term strategic goals began18. The first three goals approved by the Companies’ Boards of Directors in 2019 are priorities on which Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane and its subsidiaries will invest in forthcoming years to contribute to shape create a sustainable future.
