Stefano Antonio Donnarumma, CEO and General Manager of the FS Italiane Group, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the UIC Europe Region for the 2024-2025 period.
The UIC (International Union of Railways) is the international organisation that brings together railways and major railway stakeholders from all over the world.
The appointment was made unanimously by the UIC Europe Regional Assembly, in a consultation procedure that ended on 31 July.
“I would like to thank the members of the UIC Europe Regional Assembly for their support. I am honoured to hold this important position and to work towards the most important strategic objectives,” said Stefano Antonio Donnarumma. “By leveraging the great opportunities we have before us, we will be able to increase Europe's competitiveness, keeping us at the forefront of railway development. I am confident that our joint efforts will lead to significant progress and innovation.”
The first meeting of the European Management Committee under the leadership of Stefano Antonio Donnarumma will be held on 23 September 2024 in Berlin, in conjunction with the major transport event Innotrans.
The appointment of the FS Italiane's CEO as Chairman of UIC Europe is a recognition of the FS Group's commitment to leading the development of the railway system in Europe.
