TX Logistik Switzerland, a new company of the Mercitalia Group (FS Italiane Group), is operational. The headquarters is in Basel.

TX Logistik Switzerland with the new Swiss Corridor service will guarantee, from December 11, the railway traction services to all the Mercitalia Group Companies that, crossing the Swiss territory, make cargo transport between Italy and Northern Europe.

In the first phase, 40 freight trains will be produced by TX Logistik Switzerland. Every week they will transport goods between Italy, Germany, Netherlands and Belgium, using the Gotthard and Lötschberg railway corridors. This will allow the Group to internalize operating costs of around 12 million euros per year.

This new service was presented today in Milan by Renato Mazzoncini CEO and  General Manager of FS Italiane Group, Marco Gosso CEO and General Manager of Mercitalia Logistics and Mirko Pahl CEO of TX Logistik.

The Mercitalia Group with Swiss Corridor of TX Logistik Switzerland aims to offer its customers a high quality of service that, thanks to a new integrated management of the industrial chain, will allow high standards of punctuality, reliability and operational efficiency.

“The relaunch of rail freight transport, as provided by the promotion of the railway launched by Minister Graziano Delrio, is one of the main objectives of the Business Plan 2017-2026 of the FS Italiane Group”, said Renato Mazzoncini. “In order to boost and develop the freight and logistics sectors nationally and within Europe, we have created the Mercitalia Group, operational since January 2017, reorganising the different freight and logistics industrial entities of the Group. An operation that has led to a reduction in operational superstructures and greater productive efficiency. We have foreseen investments of 1.5 billion euros in this sector; thanks to the strengthening of intermodality and the development of markets with high added value freight transport offers, we will achieve revenues of 2.1 billion in 2026.”

Marco Gosso highlighted: “In its first year, the Mercitalia Group has achieved the objectives listed in the Business Plan for the relaunch of the freight sector of FS Italiane Group, both in terms of economical and industrial results and investments. With the new Swiss Corridor service, the companies of the  Mercitalia Group will manage all the production factors of freight transport, from origin to destination, with greater efficiency and effectiveness, offering clients even higher quality standards of service on the Rhine-Alps Corridor.”

“The new Swiss Corridor service – declared Mirko Pahlwill allow greater synergy and perfect collaboration possible between the companies of the Mercitalia Group. TX Logistik Swizterland, with 12 locomotives, will guarantee in this first phase the railway traction for 40 freight trains every week,  that, crossing Switzerland, will connect efficiently Italy and Northern Europe.”
